Wilson Adaptive Technologies (WAT) is a Detroit-based adaptive technology organization that designs portable, modular, accessible shower solutions. Founded by Ron Wilson and now led by Wendy Wilson, WAT's mission is to restore dignity, independence, and safety in personal hygiene for disabled users, aging individuals, and the caregivers who assist them.

The WAT Shower is a self-contained, portable bathing system with modular walls, an integrated ramp, grab bars, temperature safety controls, and a built-in pump and reservoir. It requires no permanent plumbing and can be set up in almost any flat space.

The WAT Shower is designed for wheelchair users, people with limited mobility, elderly individuals aging in place, people recovering from surgery or injury, home care patients, and the caregivers and family members who assist them. It's also suitable for facilities, shelters, and temporary housing situations.

Setup takes 30–45 minutes for first-time assembly (15–20 minutes after that). You need a flat 5×5 foot surface, a water source, and a standard electrical outlet. No special tools are required. See our Quick Start Guide for step-by-step instructions.

No. The WAT Shower can operate in self-contained mode using its built-in pump and reservoir, or it can connect to a standard faucet or garden hose for continuous water supply. No plumbing modifications are needed.

The WAT Shower meets and exceeds ADA guidelines. We design beyond minimum compliance — our goal is genuine usability. Features include wheelchair ramp access, grab bars, temperature safety controls, accessible controls from a seated position, and open caregiver access panels.

Every WAT Shower includes grab bars (supporting up to 300 lbs), anti-slip surfaces on the base and ramp, thermostatic temperature control to prevent scalding, emergency shut-off accessible from a seated position, and high-contrast controls with tactile indicators.
